JetStream Federal Credit Union was a proud sponsor of the 5000 Role Models of Excellence 27th Annual MLK Day Scholarship Breakfast, held on Monday, January 20 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel. This year, forty-two high school seniors received college scholarships upon completion of the mentoring program.
Several local dignitaries attended the breakfast including, US Senator Marco Rubio, Miami Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez, State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle, and Miami Dade School Superintendent Alberto Carvalho.
The program founded in 1993 by Representative Frederica Wilson, provides a mentoring program committed to closing the minority male achievement gap by guiding minority male students along a carefully chartered path through grades K-12 and college. Over $10 million in college scholarships have been awarded to students successfully completing the program.
Jeanne Kucey, JetStream’s CEO said, “Congresswoman Wilson has created an amazing program that has helped so many potentially at risk young men succeed. JetStream Federal is very proud to be a part of the 5000 Role Models of Excellence program.”
