John Sackett elected to CUNA Board

WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 16, 2015) — John Sackett, director at Royal Credit Union in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, was elected by acclamation to the CUNA board of directors.

“John has served in an advisory role at board meetings for the past few years as the chair of CUNA’s Volunteer Leadership Committee, and we have greatly valued his input. I look forward to his new role as a voting board member,” said Susan Streifel, CUNA board chairwoman and president and CEO of Woodstone Credit Union in Federal Way, Washington.

Sackett will fill the District 4, Class C board seat, currently held by Dennis Pierce. Pierce submitted his resignation from the CUNA board, effective June 30. That resignation coincides with his retirement as president and CEO of CommunityAmerica Credit Union in Kansas City, Missouri.

District 4, Class C represents credit unions with at least 106,000 natural-person members in Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin.

Sackett is the first volunteer elected to the CUNA board since the 1996 Renewal Review recommendations changed the election procedures and composition of the board. His term will run through the 2016 annual general meeting.
