Kinecta Federal Credit Union celebrated its season of giving by making the holidays a little brighter for families and children in need

The company successfully hosted its 46th Annual Food Drive, partnered with Mychal’s Learning Place on the Great Santa Stroll and conducted a toy drive.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA (December 27, 2019)This holiday season, Kinecta Federal Credit Union enthusiastically conducted a variety of activities to give back to its local communities during this wonderful time of the year. The credit union supported non-profit community partners through volunteer opportunities, fundraising drives and charitable contributions as part of its continuous commitment to the advancement and strengthening of the communities it serves.

“The holiday season is known as a time of giving and each year, Kinecta Federal Credit Union participates in activities to help the communities where we work and live,” said Latrice McGlothin, Community Engagement Officer at Kinecta. “Whether it is through gifting the goods that make a family’s holiday special or putting a smile on a kid’s face with a new toy, we are delighted to continue helping families and children in need, and making this holiday season a real time of giving.”

Kinecta’s season of giving kicked off with the company’s 46th Annual Holiday Food Drive on November 24. More than 1,000 families selected by Los Angeles-based community organizations, including Al Wooten Jr. Youth Center, City of Hawthorne Operation Gobble, Food Finders, Para Los Niños, Parents of Watts, Salvation Army, Santa Barbara Food Bank and Thomas House Family Shelter, received a bag of traditional Thanksgiving food items, such as rice and stuffing mix, along with a $75 gift certificate to help complete their holiday meal.

The credit union also partnered with Mychal’s Learning Place to raise much-needed funds for children and adults with developmental disabilities by helping the non-profit organization launch its first-ever California Great Santa Stroll.  Mychal’s Learning Place successfully hosted this fundraising event with record participation of more than 750 children, adults and furry friends dressed up as “Santas” at the Hermosa Beach Pier on December 14.

In addition, the credit union conducted its “Adopt-a-Family” initiative to help military families in need experience a happier holiday season. Kinecta partnered with non-profit organizations Boys of Belvedere (Los Angeles) as well as East Los Angeles, West Los Angeles and North Orange County Vet Centers to identify military families in need and Kinecta’s employees adopted 14 military families, helping them to experience a brighter holiday season and fulfill all or part of their wish list.

To close the season of giving, 150 kids from Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in Los Angeles and Orange Counties received toys donated from November 25 to December 12 by Kinecta’s employees, members and the community.
