Kohler Credit Union opens branch in Homestead High School

SHEBOYGAN, WI (January 25, 2018) — Kohler Credit Union, in partnership with the Mequon-Thiensville School District, opened its Homestead High School branch to students and faculty in early January with the official grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, January 23.

The grand opening celebration included a ribbon cutting ceremony presented by the Mequon-Thiensville Chamber of Commerce and a look at the newly designed school branch. In attendance were various chamber members, Homestead High School administrators and board members, Mequon-Thiensville Education Foundation affiliates, as well as Kohler Credit Union employees.

The full-service branch along with an ATM is located in the field house lobby area. The branch will be open to faculty and students Monday through Friday during the lunch break.

Kohler Credit Union will also provide the high school and two area middle schools financial education resources to help promote the importance of youth financial literacy.

“We are fortunate to work with a partner such as the Mequon-Thiensville School District that not only understands the importance of financial literacy but is also willing to be creative in how they expose their students to financial management. Providing a real-world financial environment in the school, that also has a space dedicated to financial education, gives Homestead students a unique learning opportunity,” said Laura Gabrielse, senior vice president of communications and community development.

Superintendent of Schools, Matthew Joynt, commented on the partnership, “We are excited to have Kohler Credit Union partner with us in serving our students, families and the community at Homestead High School. The responsibility for developing the next generation of leaders cannot rest solely on our schools. Through partnerships with organizations like Kohler Credit Union, our District is able to provide authentic experiences for students that boost our efforts to develop well-educated and civic-minded students that as tomorrow’s citizens, will create a better future for all of us.”

The Homestead High School branch is the fifth school-based financial literacy program for Kohler Credit Union, but the first in the Ozaukee area. The credit union also has school branches in Sheboygan South, Sheboygan North, Sheboygan Central and Howards Grove High Schools.
