LAFCU breaks ground on new drive-up teller site in Perry

New ITM/ATM location strengthens local access to banking for Perry residents and businesses

LANSING, MI (October 28, 2025) |

On a brisk, sunny October morning, LAFCU leaders joined local officials and community partners, to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new Interactive Teller Machine (ITM) development in Perry, Michigan that will bring expanded services to the area.

An ITM combines the convenience of an ATM with the personal service of a live teller, allowing members to conduct many in-branch transactions — such as deposits, withdrawals, transfers, account inquires, and loan payments — through a video connection with a remote LAFCU teller during business hours, plus 24/7 ATM access.

The new location at 2800 W. Lansing Road marks LAFCU’s first permanent presence in Perry since relocating from Carl’s Supermarket. The two-lane drive-thru will offer members convenient banking technology in a secure format.

“Today’s groundbreaking marks another exciting step in how we’re serving our members where they are,” said Patrick Spyke, LAFCU CEO. “This new ITM development will give the Perry community a simple, secure, and personal way to do their banking — with real LAFCU people on the other end of the screen. As our friends at Clark Construction shared, LAFCU isn’t just building a building; we’re helping build a community and a culture of people helping people — and that’s exactly what this offering is all about.”

The project reflects LAFCU’s ongoing investment in technology and accessibility. More than 700 LAFCU credit union members live in the Perry area. Combined, rearly 2,200 members live in Perry, Laingsburg, Durand and Morrice, underscoring the local demand for LAFCU’s services.

Community leaders attending the event included Perry Mayor Sue Hammond, Perry Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Lori Haven, and Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Jordan Hankwitz, who highlighted LAFCU’s commitment to financial education and local economic growth.

Representatives from Mayotte Group Architects, who designed the ITM development and Clark Construction, the project’s builder, also attended and offered remarks during the ceremony.

The new site expands LAFCU’s network of ITM/ATM combined machines to 32 across Mid-Michigan, offering secure, convenient banking options for individuals and businesses alike. Construction is underway, with completion anticipated in early 2026.
