Lake Trust donates $25,000 to Spartan Strong Fund
Funds will be used to provide continued support to those impacted by the recent tragedy at MSU
BRIGHTON, MI (April 13, 2023) — Lake Trust Credit Union (Lake Trust), a community-based credit union serving nearly 200,000 members and businesses throughout Michigan, and the Lake Trust Foundation (the Foundation), an independent entity of Lake Trust, announced today that they have donated a combined $25,000 to Michigan State University’s Spartan Strong Fund. The contribution includes funds donated by Lake Trust team members as well as those generated by Lake Trust member support and a separate donation from the Foundation.
“Our membership has always had a very strong connection to the greater Lansing area. It’s home to many of our members and team members, and it is for that reason that we have a history of supporting a plethora of programs in the community over the years,” said Lake Trust President and CEO David Snodgrass. “The tragedy that occurred at Michigan State University in February left many Michiganders devastated for those impacted and our team and Lake Trust members were actively seeking a way to help. We hope this donation will go a long way in providing support to the students, staff and community members as they continue the journey of healing from the violence that occurred on campus.”
For every transaction that Lake Trust members made using a Lake Trust debit card on March 9, Lake Trust donated 25 cents to the Spartan Strong Fund. Lake Trust team members also opted to contribute to the Lake Trust Foundation MSU Fund through a payroll deduction from March 6 through March 12. Through these efforts and an additional donation from the Foundation, Lake Trust donated a total amount of $25,000 to the Fund.
The Spartan Strong Fund was created to provide support for the evolving needs of the individuals impacted by the tragedy that occurred on Michigan State University’s campus on February 13. The fund will also be used for student and staff counseling, as well as recognition for those involved with the crisis, such as first responders.
