Newport News, VA (May 19, 2026) |
Langley Federal Credit Union (Langley FCU) today announced the appointment of Blake Newman as its new Chief Financial Officer. Newman brings more than 15 years of credit union financial management experience, with deep expertise in balance sheet strategy, capital markets, and risk management.
Most recently, Newman served as Vice President of Treasury & Asset Liability Management at Wright-Patt Credit Union, where he managed a $2 billion investment portfolio and led enterprise-wide initiatives in hedging, liquidity management, and pricing strategy. In this role, he partnered closely with executive leadership and the Board of Directors to enhance the credit union’s financial performance, optimize balance sheet positioning, and strengthen risk governance.
Newman’s background also includes extensive experience in financial forecasting and capital planning, as well as translating complex financial data into clear, actionable insights that support strategic decision-making.
“Blake’s deep industry expertise and strategic mindset make him an outstanding addition to our leadership team,” said Gaurav Bhatia, President/CEO. “His experience with a nearly $10B credit union aligns well with our own growth goals. Add his member-focused approach to his experience, and you can see that he will play a critical role in supporting Langley’s continued growth and long-term financial strength.”
“Langley FCU has a long history of delivering member value and has a robust financial foundation,” said Newman. “I’m excited for the opportunity to support its mission, serve its members, and contribute to its continued growth.”
As Chief Financial Officer, Newman will lead Langley FCU’s financial strategy and operations, including treasury, investment management, financial planning and analysis, enterprise risk oversight and legal and compliance.
Newman holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, as wells as a Master of Financial Economics from Ohio University and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Ohio State University.
Newman's appointment reflects Langley's commitment to building the executive leadership depth needed to support its next chapter of growth and member impact.
