Local credit union leader ‘Crashing’ governmental conference in Washington, D.C.

MARTINSVILLE, VA (January 18, 2023) — ValleyStar Credit Union’s Vice President of Brand, Stephanie Potter, was selected out of 288 applicants to represent ValleyStar Credit Union, the Virginia Credit Union League and the state of Virginia at CUNA’s Governmental Affairs
Conference (GAC).

Stephanie was selected as part of the Crash the GAC Program, a career-changing program for young professionals that gives them opportunities to build industry knowledge and create connections. The 2023 cohort of Crashers represents 48 U.S. states and three countries, and the program focuses on leadership development, credit union history, community partnerships, engagement and key credit union advocacy topics. Stephanie will join 58 other
young professionals.

“I am extremely honored and excited to have been chosen to crash the GAC and to be given a voice and platform to advocate for the credit union difference,” said Stephanie Potter, vice president of brand. “I’m looking forward to the amazing networking opportunities, meeting our policymakers firsthand and representing the Virginia Credit Union League.”

The 2023 GAC Crashers have been tapped from the largest applicant pool of credit union rising leaders in the program’s 14-year history. Crash the GAC is brought to you by The Cooperative Trust from Filene Research Institute and is made possible by the generous support of CUNA and with help from League partners.
