LSCU honors Georgia State Representative Joseph Gullett as 2022 State Lawmaker of the Year

TALLAHASSEE, FL (February 21, 2023) — In December of 2022, the League of Southeastern Credit Unions (LSCU) Board of Directors met to approve strategic plans for 2023 and discuss a number of other business items, including the 2022 lawmakers of the year. During the nomination and approval process, legislator’s contributions to, and support for, credit unions were discussed at length.

The Georgia Advocacy Policy Committee voted to nominate Representative Joseph Gullett (R-19) as the 2022 State Lawmaker of the Year, which was later approved by the LSCU Board of Directors.

“It is an incredible honor to be named the 2022 State Lawmaker of the year by LSCU and the Georgia Credit Union Association,” said Representative Gullett. “As a steadfast supporter of financial institutions and an employee of one locally, I am consistently in awe of the dedication of credit unions to advocating for their members. I look forward to working alongside LSCU as we continue to ensure financial services are available and accessible for all Georgians.”

Representative Gullett serves as a member of the Insurance Committee and a member of the Subcommittee on Economic Development. In these roles, Representative Gullett is able to make a tremendous impact for the constituents of Georgia.

“We appreciate having experienced, financial institution leaders like Representative Gullett in office and advocating for credit unions in Georgia,” noted Patrick La Pine, CEO of LSCU & Affiliates. “Representative Gullett is an important supporter of credit unions and plays an important role in carrying legislation allowing notaries to perform remote online notarization. This legislation will be a game changer for credit union members who will have additional access to resources electronically. This commitment to serving financial institutions is exactly why we have awarded Representative Gullett as the 2022 State Lawmaker of the Year in Georgia.”

Representative Gullett remains accessible to Georgia’s credit unions and LSCU appreciates his commitment to serving the state.
