Maine Savings presents nine Maine students with scholarships

HAMPDEN, ME (June 18, 2015) — Continuing its tradition of supporting local students, Maine Savings, a full service financial institution, renewed its scholarship commitment for 2015 and awarded $4,500 to area students.

“We are proud and honored to support our local students in their pursuit of higher education,” said John Reed, President and CEO of Maine Savings. “We are committed to investing in the future of our communities through these scholarships, as well as through the support of the University of Maine and Husson University.”

Maine Savings recently granted each of the following nine Maine students heading to college a $500 scholarship:

  • Joseph Buzzell, of Central High School, will be attending the University of New England to study Biology and Animal Behavior.
  • Kylie Cunningham, of Bangor High School, will be attending the University of Maine, Farmington to study Psychology.
  • Jordan Fournier, of Stearns High School, will be attending Michigan State University to study Human Biology.
  • Kelsey Houston, of Winslow High School, will be attending the University of Maine to study Animal and Veterinary Science.
  • Joseph Koric, of Hampden Academy, will be attending the University of Pittsburgh to study Computer Engineering.
  • Emily Tarr, of Brewer High School, will be attending the University of Maine to study Biology.
  • Michael Vachon, of Penquis Valley High School, will be attending Husson University to study Environmental Science.
  • Sarah Vaillancourt, of Old Town High School, will be attending the University of Maine in the Foundations Program.
  • Edward Vanzura, of Ellsworth High School, will be attending Husson University to study Biology.
