Maine State Credit Union to donate $20,000 to charities across Maine
Drive for Good allows members to help select charities
AUGUSTA, ME (April 19, 2023) — Maine State Credit Union is committing to donating $20,000 to charities in the eight counties it serves through its Drive for Good Campaign. This program allows credit union members to donate $25 to a local non-profit when they finance an auto, truck, or motorcycle loan through Maine State CU in 2023.
“The Drive for Good program was designed by Dan Emery, Manager, Indirect Lending, to allow members to give back to the local community while financing a car, truck, or motorcycle loan with us,” said Stephen Wallace, President, and CEO of Maine State Credit Union. “As one of Maine’s largest Credit Unions, I thought it was a great idea and way for Maine State Credit Union to give our members the opportunity to determine where donations go. A lot of twenty-five-dollar donations adds up quickly and can help launch new programs and keep others afloat.”
Maine State Credit Union serves members in Androscoggin, Cumberland, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, Somerset, and Waldo counties. Three charities were selected in each county for 2023, focusing on helping animals, food insecurity, and youth causes.
“So many people want to give back to where they live and work, and the Drive for Good program makes it easy,” said Dan Emery. “I’m glad that the credit union leadership supports us in thinking outside the box and encourages us to develop programs that align with the credit union movement; the Drive for Good program is just one of the many ways we support our community.”
One of the core values of the Maine State Credit Union is giving back to local communities. Maine State CU established the Normand Dubreuil Endowment Fund at Maine Community College System and Maine Maritime Academy and has helped over 200 Mainers with their education.
