Maine State Credit Union’s 20th annual Walk to End Hunger raises over $80,000 to support local communities

Augusta, ME (July 29, 2025) |

Maine State Credit Union proudly announces that its 20th Annual Walk to End Hunger raised over $80,000 to support local food pantries and hunger relief organizations across Maine. All funds will be returned directly to the communities they serve.

Despite poor weather conditions, more than 130 participants took part in the walk, underscoring the strong community support behind this important cause. For many hunger organizations in Maine, this event represents their primary source of fundraising for the year.

“This event is a powerful example of what happens when a community comes together to support its neighbors,” said Stacey Dow, longtime event organizer and Maine State Credit Union employee. “Even with the terrible weather, over 130 people showed up to walk and raise money for this critical cause. Every dollar raised is reinvested directly back into the communities we serve. It’s heartwarming to know that this event—now in its 20th year—continues to make such a meaningful difference for so many people. I’m incredibly proud of everyone who participated, volunteered, or donated to help make it a success.”

Stephen Wallace, President and CEO of Maine State Credit Union, added, “This event is a true team effort. Each year, employees from every department volunteer their time, energy, and heart to ensure the Walk to End Hunger is a success. It’s a reflection of our values as a credit union—we’re here to serve, support, and uplift our communities. I’m incredibly proud of our team and the difference we’re making together.”

Maine State Credit Union also extends sincere thanks to its generous sponsors, whose contributions helped make the event possible: TriCorp FCU, Lee & Mason Financial Services, Meridian Link, Cross Insurance, WIPFLI, Allen Insurance & Financial, CU Insurance Solutions, Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Taylor, McCormack & Frane, Cayer Security Services, Charlie’s Family of Dealerships, Pannos Marketing, Maine Dental Association, Abrigo, TruStage, Creative Imaging Group, Harvest Time, Inc., Priority Learning, Assurance Plus, Le Club Calumet, Envision Excellence, Data Concepts, Inc., Maine Business Furniture, and G & E Roofing.

In closing, Dow shared, “It’s not just a walk—it’s a movement of hope and action. Each step taken brings us closer to a hunger-free Maine, and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together in the next 20 years.”
