Marshall High School seniors hired for school credit union operations

MARSHALL, MI (August 27, 2025) |

Marshall Community Credit Union (MCCU) is thrilled to announce Jonah Kue and Maura Young have been hired as the 2025-26 Marshall High School (MHS) CU in School Student Tellers.

Both Jonah and Maura joined MCCU in June to train as Student Tellers to work in the MHS CU in School branch and at MCCU’s Marshall branch. In their roles as Student Tellers, they will handle transactions at the school branch and create valuable financial learning opportunities for their peers and MHS staff. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to work at the Marshall branch as their schedules permit, providing them with hands-on experience in the financial services industry.

As part of their Student Teller roles, Jonah and Maura will be enrolled in an independent study course under the guidance of MCCU’s Community & Youth Engagement Manager, Laura Van Dyke. Through this independent study, they will deepen their knowledge of personal finance and responsibility, be a part of credit union operations, and explore various career opportunities. "Our goal is for student tellers to take this unique opportunity, gain essential employment experience, and empower them to make informed financial decisions as well as a source of financial guidance for others in their community,” said Van Dyke.

The MHS CU in School branch will open for the 2025-26 school year on Friday, September 5, with a special grand opening celebration, where students and staff members will have the opportunity to win prizes. The branch will remain open on Fridays during lunch through Friday, May 15, 2026.

MCCU has partnered with Marshall Public Schools since 2001 to bring financial education to students and staff members through its CU in School program. For more information on the partnership between Marshall High School and MCCU, contact Laura Van Dyke at Laura.VanDyke@marshallcommunitycu.com.
