MECU’s Ice Bucket Challenge Video wins award

(May 28, 2015) — Last August, MECU of Baltimore, Inc. took the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise funds for ALS research. Employees, leadership team members and MECU’s Money Bag turned out on a thankfully hot day last August to have icy water poured on them. The whole event was videoed and posted on MECU’s Facebook page. In turn, MECU challenged the Maryland/DC Credit Union Association and all Maryland credit unions.

On Thursday, May 14 of this year, the ALS Association DC/MD/VA Chapter held “The Best of the Ice Bucket Challenge Corporate Awards Breakfast” at the CareFirst building in Baltimore to honor Baltimore area businesses that participated in last year’s ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. MECU’s video received an award for “Employee Engagement” due to the number of employees involved with the challenge, as well as representation from all levels of the credit union.

At the end of the breakfast, the Association stated that they plan to encourage people and organizations to take the challenge again this August.
