Mellin Elected to CUNA Board Seat

(Albany, NY) – William J. Mellin has been elected to the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Board of Directors, representing District 1, Class D. His term begins immediately and runs through February 2014. CUNA is the national trade association that serves America’s credit unions.

Mellin is president/CEO of the Credit Union Association of New York (CUANY) where he represents the interests of New York’s 421 credit unions at the state and national level.

In addition to CUNA, Mellin serves as chairman of the American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL), ex-officio of CUNA Strategic Services, Inc., and is a board member of Credit Union House, CO-OP Shared Branching Credit Union Service Corporation, the League InfoSight Corporation and CULAC.

A native of New York, William grew up in the New York City metropolitan area. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Curry College in Milton, Mass.

“On behalf of New York’s credit unions, I congratulate Bill on his appointment and wish him much success,” said Lou Jimenez, chairman of CUANY’s board of directors. “He is a strong leader and a great advocate for the credit union movement, and, as such will be a great asset to CUNA’s board.”
