Meriwest’s Mobile Deposit usage soars

Enhanced Feature Proves Valuable to Members

SAN JOSE, CA (December 31, 2014) — Meriwest Credit Union today announced members have responded with confidence to the convenience, security and functionality of the Mobile Deposit feature of their Mobile Banking application. To date, just over16,000 remote capture transactions have been processed totaling approximately $6.3M in deposits.

Meriwest announced the addition of Mobile Deposits to their Mobile Banking application in February 2014, with a soft roll-out, enabling members to securely deposit checks to their member accounts using a camera equipped Smart Phone such as an Android or Apple iPhone. Meriwest members now have the convenience of anytime, anywhere deposits. Meriwest Credit Union’s technology partner in this endeavor was Access Softek.

“Adoption started slow as members and staff became familiar with the process, but once members discovered the convenience and ease of use, volume tripled in a matter of months.  With mobile deposit, as well as mobile banking services in general, members have found that our mobile app is the perfect delivery channel for their needs, and in many cases, replaces the need to visit a Financial Center.” said Tony Cortez, Meriwest Credit Union SVP and Chief Experience Officer.
