Michigan State University Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) startUP Loan helps Food Court Wars Winner open doors in Lansing

EAST LANSING, MI (July 1, 2014) — MSU Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce that local entrepreneurs, Mark and Krysta McGee, of Mark’s Gourmet Dogs and recipient of MSFUCU’s startUP loan, were selected as winners on the Food Network series “Food Court Wars.”

The pair competed on the show to win a food court space for a year at the Lansing Mall, beating out Grand Grillin for the top prize. Working with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Lansing Community College, they created a business plan and were able to determine the next steps toward growing their business. With the help of MSUFCU and the startUP loan, the McGee’s had the chance to make their dreams a reality.

“MSU Federal Credit Union’s startUP loan was exactly what we needed to get the doors open,” said Mark McGee.

The MSUFCU startUP loan provides an opportunity for entrepreneurs to take their business ideas to the next level by fostering growth and creating new ventures in the Greater Lansing area. The startUP loan is available to all MSUFCU members who have established new businesses in the past two years in the tri-county area: Ingham, Clinton, and Eaton County.
