Mid-Atlantic Corporate goes the extra mile for the 2014 Miracle Marathon
Making miracles for CMN Hospitals one mile at a time
MIDDLETOWN, PA (November 3, 2014) — One mile a day. That’s all it takes to help thousands of sick and injured children get better. And that’s the challenge Mid-Atlantic Corporate and its family of companies took on as part of Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals’ Miracle Marathon.
Miracle Marathon is a 27.2-day campaign during which participants ran, walked, biked, hiked or did any sort of movement for one mile a day from September 16 to October 12, 2014. The goal is to promote a healthy, active lifestyle while – most importantly – raising money for the kids of CMN Hospitals. It’s a marathon, plus an extra mile for the kids.
The 13 employees who made up Mid-Atlantic Corporate’s team, along with all of the other Miracle Marathoners around the country, each completed their first 26 miles on their own time and at their own pace. On October 12, the 27th and final day of the marathon, all participants on the East Coast completed their final 1.2 miles beginning at 2:27 p.m. to attract public awareness.
“The recurring theme for the Miracle Marathon is ‘for the kids,’ and that’s exactly why we wanted to participate in this great cause,” says Erin Doan, administration and community relations director for Mid-Atlantic Corporate. “It’s a very simple concept – moving for one mile a day – but it makes such a huge impact for the kids.”
Each individual participant in the Miracle Marathon has a goal to raise at least $272. The Mid-Atlantic Corporate team raised $1,352. All funds that Mid-Atlantic Corporate raises will be donated to our local CMN Hospital, Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.
The nationwide event raised over $660,000!
