Midland’s Open Door gets helping hand from DCECU employees

MIDLAND, MI (December 19, 2019) — For the fifth time in 2019, employees from Dow Chemical Employees’ Credit Union volunteered at Midland’s Open Door, a local nonprofit organization that runs two shelters, a soup kitchen and a clothing ministry.

On Dec. 11, a crew of six DCECU employees volunteered to clean and reorganize the deep freezer at the Open Door main campus. According to DCECU Bankruptcy Specialist Amy King, who was among the volunteers, the group also received a tour of the facility and learned more about what the organization does and what its needs are.

DCECU employees also volunteered with Midland’s Open Door in February, April, May and October and will continue volunteering with the organization throughout 2020.

“Midland’s Open Door is a tremendous resource for our community,” said DCECU President/CEO Dennis Hanson. “Our employees are grateful for the frequent opportunities to volunteer with this organization in support of its multiple programs and services that help our neighbors in need.”

Midland’s Open Door is one of three local organizations to which the credit union frequently provided volunteers during 2019. Groups of DCECU employees also volunteered at The Bridge Food Center and The Diaper Alliance on numerous occasions throughout the year.
