Mitchell Stankovic & Associates is growing!

Adds CECL, strategic planning exper

BOULDER CITY, NV (March 9, 2020) — Garland Koch, recently retired CFO of SCE Federal Credit Union, has joined Mitchell, Stankovic & Associates as its newest executive consultant, focusing on credit unions’ concerns regarding Current Expected Credit Losses compliance.

“I’m very excited to join this established and highly reputable consulting firm supporting credit unions as the best financial services choice for consumers,” Koch said. “Susan Mitchell [CEO of Mitchell Stankovic] helped me get my job at SCE. She offers great services to credit unions they can’t get elsewhere.”

Koch’s career spans 30 years as CFO in various financial institutions, including nearly the last decade in credit unions. In recent years, he’s been focused on building a program for SCE FCU to provide data and analysis to help the credit union comply with CECL requirements. He plans to share this experience building this program with more credit unions now, as well as helping them to rewrite ALL policies and more.

“I respect Garland’s expertise in running safe and sound credit unions and welcome his input as we move forward with his exciting new role,” Mitchell said. “There is still a lot to learn about what will be required for CECL, but compliance – when the time comes – will be critical, and we want to get ahead of that for our clients.”

Koch has been responsible for all accounting, finance, cash management, budgeting and forecasting, reporting, asset/liability management, regulatory relations, auditor relations, expense control, revenue growth and tax. A native of Iowa, Garland is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
