Montgomery County Employees Federal Credit Union launches ongoing canned food drive program
GERMANTOWN, MD (April 7, 2015) — Montgomery County Employees Federal Credit Union (MC EFCU), a Montgomery County, Md.-based full-service financial institution, announces an ongoing canned and non-perishable food collection program at its two branches to support local families in need, through the Manna Food Center.
MC EFCU members and visitors can donate non-perishable food at either of the credit union’s two branches, at Germantown or Rockville. Clearly marked bins will be available in each of the branches for those who would like to drop off food items, which will be periodically delivered to the Manna Food Center, as well as to other local relief organizations.
Founded in 1983, Manna Food Center is the primary food resource for people in Montgomery County, Maryland who are experiencing hunger and food insecurity. Manna provides food to an average of 3,760 families each month at more than a dozen locations throughout the county. Manna provides each family with approximately 70 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as shelf-stable foods.
Manna also coordinates the Montgomery County Community Food Rescue initiative, helping soup kitchens, food pantries, group homes, and emergency shelters end hunger by also ending food waste. For more information about Manna Food Center and its programs, visit www.mannafood.org.

The MC EFCU Food Drive Program was officially launched on April 1. Credit union members – or anyone who would like to support the effort – can drop off non-perishable food items during operating hours at either of MC EFCU’s branches:
