Mountain West Credit Union Association’s Hazlett earns PR Award

National Blockbuster Award is tops in the credit union industry

DENVER, CO (March 30, 2015) — Patti Hazlett, Director of Corporate Communications for the Mountain West Credit Union Association (MWCUA), received one of the credit union industry’s top awards for her public relations work on behalf of a member credit union.

The Blockbuster Awards program is a national competition sponsored by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA). The program recognizes outstanding Association/League communications efforts, honors the best in public relations and publications, and pays tribute to excellence in marketing and advertising. The Blockbuster Awards are the highest communication awards bestowed on Associations/Leagues in the credit union industry.

Hazlett’s entry, Landings Credit Union Scores Big with Micro Loan Program, earned highly desirable trade media placement for the credit union. The project was recognized as the Best Public Relations Campaign at the awards reception, held March 23, in Las Vegas, NV.

“I am humbled and honored to be recognized by CUNA and my peers in this category,” Hazlett said. “Our member credit unions have incredible stories to tell, and it is my privilege to work with them to help spread the word about all the member-focused things they are doing in their communities.”

Based in Denver, the MWCUA is the regional tri-state trade association representing 125 member credit unions, 3.1 million credit union members and $34 billion in assets throughout Arizona, Colorado and Wyoming. Not-for-profit in nature, credit unions provide low-cost financial services to their members. Founded in 2011, the Mountain West Credit Union Association serves and supports the interests of member credit unions through advocacy, community outreach, education and training, public affairs, regulatory and compliance services and strategic partnerships.
