MSGCU announces two scholarships to empower and propel educators and students

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI (April 2, 2015) — As a credit union founded by educators, Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union (MSGCU) strongly believes in the power of education.  This year, MSGCU is offering two additional scholarship opportunities in Macomb and Oakland Counties: one is a new scholarship for educators who are looking to further their education and the other is an expansion of a popular student scholarship program.

“We are proud to help advance the educational aspirations of classroom professionals through the new Educator Advantage Scholarship, created in honor of MSGCU’s 60th anniversary,” said Peter Gates, MSGCU President and CEO.

The Educator Advantage Scholarship
Two one-time $2500 scholarships will be awarded to educators advancing their career education.  Applicants must be certified K-12 educators currently enrolled or accepted into a college, university or other learning program. Applicants will be asked to provide a letter from an administrator at their school and to share how their continuing education will benefit their students.

The Educational Solutions Scholarship

Designed for high school seniors preparing to finance their college education, there are eighteen (18) one-time $2,500 scholarships awarded. Eligible students must attend a public school in one of our 33 partner school districts or technical campuses. Students will be asked how education has influenced their lives and how scholarship will help them achieve their goals.  The application includes a letter of recommendation from a teacher and evaluation form.  A list of partnering schools is available at www.msgcuscholarships.org.

Both scholarships are open to members and non-members of MSGCU and applications will be accepted through April 30, 2015.  Winners will be notified the week of May 11.

Applicants may learn more and apply online at msgcuscholarships.org.
