The Culture of Finances program, from MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU), continues to help individuals achieve financial literacy through its courses and is proud to present its Spring 2025 Graduates.
Since 2023, The Culture of Finances has dedicated itself to educating individuals and developing their financial growth through unique educational courses. It provides participants with resources to take charge of their monetary habits and become financially confident.
“The Culture of Finances is a community outreach financial literacy program designed to provide the tools, practices, and resources that promote everyday financial wellness,” said Jamara Randall, The Culture of Finances Manager. “We are excited to finish our fourth cohort with 75 individuals graduating. Participants worked hard over the last three months to build healthy financial habits by learning how to manage and conquer debt, budgeting, and so much more. Congratulations to all The Culture of Finances graduates — we are proud of each of you, and wish you continued success.”
Since its first graduation of 20 individuals in 2023, the program has only continued to grow. The 12-week program includes six mandatory sessions for participants to learn about various ways to achieve financial literacy. Topics include Breaking Barriers, Spending with Intention, Owning Your Credit, Protecting Your Identity, Financial Freedom: Conquering Debt, and Bridging the Gap. An optional session on Starting Your Business Journey is also available.
“Walking into this program, I took what I knew about my finances and ‘threw it all out the window,’” said participant Breeaana Debhulbes of Lansing. “I was open-minded to everything I could learn, and, in the end, I learned a lot. Whatever life throws at me, I know that I can confidently make better choices financially because of this program and encourage many more people to do what I did for myself — that’s taking a chance at something that can be uncomfortable at first but allows us to grow in the end.”
At the event, MSUFCU announced an extension of the program: The Culture of Finances Financial Forum — Financial Wellness, Community, and Money Legacy. The forum will invite all 222 TCOF graduates to reunite, share their financial journey following the program, and be introduced to new tools and resources.
