MSUFCU partners with The Hatch

Celebrates grand opening on September 15, 2014

EAST LANSING, MI (September 17, 2014) — MSU Federal Credit Union is pleased to show its support of and partnership with “The Hatch,” which celebrated its grand opening on Monday, September 15, 2014. The Hatch is MSU’s student co-working space and is esigned to host, accelerate, cultivate, and enable student entrepreneurs to grow their ideas through a creative, co-working environment. The Hatch is located at 325 E. Grand River, Suite 315 in East Lansing.

MSUFCU provided the Hatch with a three-year gift to help expand the facility, going from 1,135 square feet to 2,549 square feet. Through this partnership, MSUFCU also helped design the space to create an inspirational workplace for young entrepreneurs and provide them with financial education resources. MSUFCU also aims to assist Hatch members and MSU students in reaching their professional goals by offering a wide range of products and services, including the MSUFCU startUP loan.

The MSUFCU startUP loan provides an opportunity for entrepreneurs to take their business ideas to the next level by fostering growth and creating new ventures in the Greater Lansing area. The startUP loan is available to all MSUFCU members who have established new businesses in the past two years in the tri-county area: Ingham, Clinton, and Eaton County. For more information on the startUp loan, visit www.msufcu.org/business/business_loans.

“The Hatch provides a wonderful resource for MSU students to start their careers as entrepreneurs” said Patrick McPharlin, MSUFCU’s President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). “We hope to help them achieve their goals and dreams by providing them with the tools they need to get their businesses started.”

The mission of the Hatch Program is to generate and advance the culture of entrepreneurship in the community and to expand the knowledge-based economy in the market, focusing on student entrepreneurs. By sharing a common workspace, members are able to work on their own business ventures while collaborating with other students, fellows, and mentors-in-residence, to create diverse teams and increase successful outcomes.
