Middletown, Pa. and Hagerstown, Md.  (June 28, 2012) – MY CU® Services, LLC, has added cloud computing to its new array of services for credit unions. The wholly owned CUSO of Mid-Atlantic Corporate Federal Credit Union’s cloud services will include hosted email, virtual desktops, virtual servers, software as a service (SaaS), data backup, disaster recovery, managed firewalls, and vendor connections.

MY CU Services has partnered with Ongoing Operations, LLC (OGO) for backend hosting. OGO is well known in the industry for safeguarding credit unions’ data during physical disasters or other business contingencies.

“Cloud computing for the credit union industry is growing rapidly, and many credit unions already use it for their core processing, email and payroll needs,” said Drew Kishbaugh, President/CEO, MY CU Services. “It makes sense for MY CU Services to move in this direction, given our current technology-based services and the direction financial technologies are heading.”

According to Kishbaugh, MY CU Services chose OGO for its deep background and expertise in business continuity, making it a natural partner. OGO has recently expanded to include hosting services through its distinctive cloud architecture and flexible menu of outsourcing options.

“We’re excited to work with MY CU Services,” said Kirk Drake, CEO of OGO. “Having served this industry for more than 10 years, we understand their data needs and have the capability to provide a cloud-based platform that is secure and efficient. It also has built-in redundancy and was designed to ensure regulatory compliance.”

Key Component Benefits
Virtual Desktops and Virtual Servers– By replacing personal computers with thin client terminals, credit unions can realize sizable cost savings. MY CU Services’ cloud services also provide secure access to desktops, documents, email and applications on any device.

Software as a Service (SaaS) – There is no hardware or software to install, maintain and support. Credit unions only pay for what they use; for example, software used for a short-term project only incurs costs for the time it is needed.

Data Backup –Cloud services provide a portal to manage which data is backed up, as well as backup timing and frequency.

Disaster Recovery – With cloud services, access is available from any location. Further, replication to secondary sites, backups and annual business contingency testing is available, providing ease of mind and regulatory needs.

Managed Firewall – OGO provides the hardware, maintains the configuration, and monitors the equipment to insure the firewall is stable, secure, and reliable.

Vendor Connections – OGO’s cloud platform offers credit unions the ability to connect with key service providers, such as core processors, online banking and ATM networks.

Kishbaugh says cloud computing is gaining popularity within the financial sector, citing a recent Bank Systems and Technology study that noted the market for cloud services grew 67 percent in 2010 and is estimated to be as large as $186 million over the next three years.

“At MY CU Services, we believe that the cooperative movement continues to be the best path forward for credit unions and cloud computing is another part of this concept,” said Kishbaugh. “It will help credit unions save money, be more efficient and increase both their backup capabilities and data security.”
