Neighborhood Credit Union promotes Kenny Cooper to Senior Vice President of Lending

DALLAS, TX (October 25, 2022) — Neighborhood Credit Union, a not-for-profit financial organization and the first credit union in the DFW metroplex, today announced Kenny Cooper has been promoted to senior vice president of lending. He previously served as vice president of lending. In his new role, Cooper will direct and oversee all aspects of lending activity for the credit union to ensure effective and efficient operations, quality of member service and compliance with existing regulations and policies. He will report to Chet Kimmell, the company’s chief executive officer.

His credit union experience and knowledge of the industry are unmatched, and I know he will even further contribute to the success of our lending programs in his new role.”

Cooper started his career in the banking industry during college and quickly began climbing the corporate ladder. He transitioned to the credit union space and began working at Resource One Credit Union and worked his way up to vice president of lending and collections by the end of his 13-year tenure there. It was during his time at Resource One, that Cooper realized his passion for the credit union industry.

Following this, he joined City Credit Union working as the director of lending and sales until he joined Neighborhood Credit Union in 2013. Cooper started out as a lending manager but was quickly promoted to vice president of lending in 2015.

“I am fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to work and grow at a place as special as Neighborhood Credit Union over the past nine years,” said Cooper, senior vice president of lending at the company. “We have an incredibly talented team that cares as much about each other as they do about improving the lives of our members and making an impact in our local communities, and that is something that cannot be replicated. I am excited to take on this new role and cannot wait to see what our team is able to accomplish.”

Cooper earned a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership, psychology and business from Texas A&M University-Commerce and later received training at the Southwest Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Management School. He has been actively engaged in a number of industry and community-based credit union organizations; most notably he is a board member of the Dallas Credit Unions Board.
