Neighbors FCU launching online Mascot madness tournament for area schools

BATON ROUGE, LA (March 14, 2019) — Neighbors FCU is hosting an online tournament with its 14 Mascot schools! The winning school will receive $1,500 and the runner-up will receive $500.

The tournament will be hosted on Neighbors’ Twitter and Facebook pages. The games will be conducted through polls. The school with the most votes wins and advances to the next round.

The games will go live on Neighbors’ Facebook page (@NeighborsFCU) on March 14, and the first round has already started on its Twitter page (@NeighborsFCU). Due to scheduling limitations on Twitter, the games may be posted before the scheduled time, but will end at the regularly scheduled time.

On Facebook, the polls will remain open for 24 hours. The only exception will be the championship round, which will last three days. During that time, the school students, faculty, parents and alumni are all encouraged to vote and share with friends.

These schools in this tournament participate in Neighbors’Mascot Checking Program. The Mascot Checking Program gives money back to the school for each debit card swipe. In 2018, that program provided $40,985 back to area schools.Additionally as part of the program, the Neighbors Capital Area Foundation will provide $30,000 in scholarships to students at these schools.

About Neighbors Federal Credit Union

Neighbors Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative operating as an  association dedicated to "people helping people." A handful of educators started Baton Rouge  Teachers in 1954 with a shoe box, a couple hundred dollars and the goal of making financial  services available to school system employees in our area.   Now, Neighbors Federal Credit Union is the largest community-chartered credit union in the  state of Louisiana with over 80,000 members and over $1 billion in assets. Since that time,  Neighbors has undergone a variety of changes, but the mission has stayed the same: Enhance  members' financial well-being and be a partner in the communities Neighbors serves.
