New Mexico credit unions read to support financial literacy

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (April 9, 2023) — We are thrilled to announce a state-wide campaign to celebrate Financial Literacy Month! On Tuesday, April 18, where New Mexico credit union personnel  join together to READ to support financial literacy.

We have chosen the book:

  • A Chair for My Mother, by Vera B. Williams (English)
  • Un Sillon Para Mi Mama, by Vera B. Williams (Spanish)

NM Credit Unions will visit local elementary school classrooms and read this book, in either English or Spanish, to the children in the class and then leave the books behind with the classroom teacher, along with provided financial literacy curriculum in both languages.

The Credit Union Association Of New Mexico (CUANM) has provided the books, curriculum, school communications, and social media images for this campaign.

Our mission is to spread the credit union mission in our communities by reading in a classroom, sharing needed financial literacy resources with schools, teachers, and students, and participating in celebrating this worthy cause.

Any questions, please contact Rebecca Isaacs at Rebacca@cuanm.org.
