Nominate a Stand-Out Future Leader for the 2014 CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec Challenge

MADISON, WI (May 20, 2014) — The industry’s first competition recognizing the incredible young leaders of the credit union movement is back for a fifth year! The search is on for the 2014 CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec. This program for the industry’s emerging leaders is powered by Currency and sponsored in part by DDJ Myers.

CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec challenge searches for emerging credit union leaders age 35 and under. Participants pitch a current project or program they are working on at their credit union or an idea to advance their credit union or the industry. The challenge features more than $50,000 in educational prizes and will award the title of CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec.

“At CUES, our vision is to help all credit union leaders achieve their greatest potential, so they can strengthen the industry and improve the financial lives of their members. We work with leaders in every stage in their career, and from all over the world. It was great to see people from four different countries nominated last year,” says Chuck Fagan, CUES president & CEO. “We’re eager to see which talented people are nominated during this year’s challenge. These are the future leaders that will continue to keep the credit union industry strong and thriving.”

Five key phases make up the program this year:

1. Nominations: May 20 to June 6, at www.ntcue.com/nominees. Nominate a rising star—even yourself!

2. Applications: June 9-July 14. Nominated young leaders may apply by completing an application form and submitting a short video and blog post about their project idea.

3. Public voting: July 16-July 30. View the application videos and blog posts and vote for your favorite. The twelve applicants with the most votes will automatically move on; three additional applicants chosen by a special panel will join them in the Top 15.

4. Judging. The Top 15 will submit an additional blog post, updating their projects, and be scored by a judging panel, which will narrow the field to five. The Final 5 will be announced September 19.

5. Final presentations. Finalists will contribute one additional video, then face off at CUES’ CEO/Executive Team Network™, November 2-5 in Amelia Island, Fla. The finalist with the highest score based on audience votes, a judging panel, online votes, and social media interaction will be named 2014 CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec on November 5 during the conference.

To provide additional value to the competition experience, the Top 15 will receive executive coaching sessions from DDJ Myers. The five Finalists will receive additional coaching, airfare, accommodation and registration to CEO/Executive Team Network( http://www.cues.org/professional-development/training-education/conferences/ceo-executive-team-network/overview) . The winner will receive further coaching, airfare, accommodation and registration for two CUES’ CEO Institutes, a total prize package valued at $20,000.

2013 CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec Amanda Brenneman said, “I never thought how winning this competition would have an immediate impact on my career. Not only was I able to deeply explore and work on an important project for my credit union; I found that it could have the same impact across North America. I received countless questions, comments, and support from credit union leaders throughout the world. The CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec competition and the ability to attend the CEO Institute have had a huge impact on my career. I discovered a passion for sharing my project with everyone!”
