Huntsville, AL (April 6, 2026) |
North Alabama Educators Credit Union (NAECU) announced a new partnership with My First Nest Egg, a family-first financial literacy program designed to help children build strong money habits early. The collaboration expands NAECU’s commitment to serving its membership and community by providing free, age-appropriate tools that make building healthy financial skills simple—at home, in classrooms, and throughout North Alabama.
Rooted in the belief that strong habits start early, NAECU is introducing a fully branded, co-hosted version of the My First Nest Egg platform. Families will gain access to engaging challenges, chore and allowance tools, goal-setting activities, and classroom-ready lessons that help parents and educators bring conversations about saving, spending, earning, and giving to life in ways that are practical, consistent, and fun.
“Our youth are the future of our credit union, so we are pleased to partner with My First Nest Egg,” said Greg Olmsted, CEO of North Alabama Educators Credit Union. “Our prior youth program had fizzled out over the years, so we were ready for a vibrant, engaging program such as My First Nest Egg. We are excited for our partnership going forward!”
“I can’t wait to introduce My First Nest Egg’s youth financial literacy program to our community,” added Jessica Gardner, Vice President of Administration at NAECU. “Having two children of my own, I know how important it is to establish financial literacy at their ages. We know at NAECU that our future is in the next generation, and we want them to develop strong financial skills and habits. We think the program will help us with that goal.”
“We’re excited to introduce this new youth program, as it aligns with our mission to empower the next generation with the financial knowledge and skills they need for a bright future,” said Kellie Cuevas, Senior Member Services Representative. “Teaching young people the fundamentals of
saving, budgeting, and managing money at an early age is not only important for their personal growth but also for fostering long-term financial well-being in our community. I’m proud to be part of a team that is dedicated to making financial literacy accessible and fun for kids, helping them build a strong foundation for their future success.”
Established in 1955 to serve employees of the local educational community, NAECU operates under the guiding principle: “Not for Profit, not for Charity, but for Service.” The member-owned credit union exists for the sole purpose of serving the financial needs of its membership, delivering value through lower loan rates, higher savings rates, and reduced service fees. This new partnership reinforces NAECU’s long-standing service commitment by extending financial education to the next generation of members.
Co-founded by two mothers and former attorneys, Nicolle Hood and Annie Shoen, My First Nest Egg was created to address the shortage of engaging, age-appropriate ways to teach children
about money. The program transforms complex financial concepts into bite-sized, psychology-backed learning experiences designed for children ages 3–13.
“At My First Nest Egg, we believe financial education works best when it’s visible, practical, and part of everyday life,” said Nicolle Hood, Co-Founder & CEO of My First Nest Egg. “North Alabama Educators Credit Union’s service-driven mission and educator roots make this partnership especially meaningful. Together, we’re equipping families with joyful, consistent tools that help children build confidence and lifelong financial habits.”
