Northwest Federal announces hiring of Debbie Kohl for VP of Accounting
HERNDON, VA (June 25, 2015) — Northwest Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce the addition of Debbie Kohl, CPA, as its new VP of Accounting.
“With more than 20 years in financial industry, Debbie has the expertise to hit the ground running at Northwest Federal,” said Chris McDonald, NWFCU’s President/CEO. “Her knowledge and experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow as an organization and move forward with new initiatives.”
Kohl’s responsibilities include oversight of accounting, cash management and payroll functions; as well as annual budget planning and preparation of financial reports.
“In addition to her impressive experience and education, Debbie is passionate about making her community stronger, having volunteered in the past for organizations such as the Ft. Lauderdale Museum of Discovery and Science, as well as the Acts of Kindness for Kids foundation,” said McDonald. “Her willingness to extend herself for the benefit of others makes her an excellent fit for Northwest Federal, where supporting our local communities is deeply ingrained in our culture.”
In 2012, Kohl was appointed by Florida Governor Rick Scott as a Commissioner to the Board of the North Broward Hospital District, where she served as Board Secretary/Treasurer and Finance Committee Chairperson. She also served on the Legal Affairs and Governmental Relations, Investment and Pension, Quality Assessment Oversight, and Governance Committees.
Kohl completed the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University, holds a Master of Accounting from Nova Southeastern University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida. She is a Certified Public Account and has volunteered with the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA).
