OCCU staff volunteer at CMN Radiothon

More than $30,000 raised over two days to help miracle kids and their families

EUGENE, OR (April 9, 2019) — OCCU joined SELCO Community Credit Union, OnPoint Community Credit Union and other local organizations to volunteer for the annualCMN Radiothon, a fundraiser benefiting Children’s Miracle Network at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend.

Volunteers answered phones, accepted donations and miracle families shared their stories with radio celebrities live on air, raising over $30,000. The event was broadcast across four stations KDUK, KOOL, US Country and KPNW.

Events like Radiothon help CMN make lifesaving doctor visits and medical procedures accessible to future generations. Alexa Sharps, pediatric program director of development, shared an example of these lifesaving services the week following the CMN Radiothon. One local Miracle Kid, who shared his story live on air, received a new heart after three years of being on a waitlist. In his mother’s own words, “It is so crazy to think that we arrived here yesterday, and Dominic had half of a heart and today he has a whole new heart.” CMN has supported and will continue to support Dominic on his healing journey of having a happy, healthy heart.
