OCCU wins United Way’s Live United Award

“From executive leadership to tellers, OCCU takes a collaborative and inclusive approach to their United Way partnership.”

EUGENE, OR (April 9, 2019) — OCCU was the recipient of this year’s Live United Award at the United Way of Lane County Annual Community Celebration on March 14. The celebration honors volunteers, donors and advocates working for kids’ success in Lane County.

In October of 2018, OCCU ran a month-long internal campaign to raise funds and awareness for United Way of Lane County. For the second year in a row, OCCU surpassed itsown record, reaching 97 percent employee participation and raising nearly $50,000 from employees alone.

Before calling OCCU to the stage to accept the award, Noreen Dunnels, president and CEO ofUnited Way of Lane County, said, “The Live United Award is given to an organization that – quite simply – embodies what it means to Live United, being involved in every possible way. From executive leadership to tellers, OCCU takes a collaborative and inclusive approach to their United Way partnership. Their employees serve on our board of directors, serve asamazing loaned executives, promote volunteerism at new employee orientations, and run a campaign that ensures access and engagement at all levels of the organization.”
