On-campus credit union now serving Howard University students

WASHINGTON, DC (November 9, 2022) — Howard University Employees Federal Credit Union (HUEFCU), the not-for-profit financial cooperative that has been serving faculty and staff since 1935, is pleased to announce that the credit union can also serve Howard University students.

Located right on Howard University’s main campus in the C B Powell Building at 525 Bryant Street NW Room C-102, HUEFCU offers affordable banking services including low-rate loans and free checking accounts with unique in-person and digital convenience for students.
HUEFCU is open to all current students, faculty and staff of Howard University, Howard University Hospital employees, and immediate family members. Once a member of HUEFCU, you’re always a member whether you graduate, move away, or retire.
“For more than 70 years, the credit union has been committed to protecting the financial wellbeing of our member-owners,” says David Muse, CEO of HUEFCU. “We’re thrilled to have an opportunity to make an even bigger difference for the entire Howard University community by serving students.”
HUEFCU is owned by and controlled by its members—the people it serves—and returns its profits to its members in the form of fewer fees, lower loan rates and higher savings rates. Members of a cooperative are part of something special: a worldwide movement whose principles provide a financial alternative for 375 million members in 118 different countries.
Credit Unions are more than banks, they are economic launching pads made to strengthen the financial literacy of the community they serve. Students are already investing in themselves financially; expanding their knowledge of financial wellbeing through credit union membership can help them take the next step toward building a better tomorrow. Free educational resources are available on our website www.huefcu.org.
