Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union will celebrate the opening of its new Whitmire, South Carolina branch with a ribbon cutting ceremony open to the public and media at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 30. The event marks a major milestone in restoring in-person banking access to the Newberry County community after the town’s last financial institution closed and left residents without a local place to manage their finances.

Why: When Whitmire’s last bank closed, the community was left without a local financial institution, which created a banking desert for residents and businesses who rely on in-person financial services. Recognizing the need, Palmetto Citizens stepped in to bring accessible, community-focused banking back to Whitmire.
The new branch represents the credit union’s continued commitment to serving communities across the state and beyond.
