Partner Colorado Credit Union surprises 350 diners with a cash mob lunch in celebration of International Credit Union Day

ARVADA, CO (October 17, 2014) — On Thursday, October 16, Partner Colorado Credit Union organized cash mobs at two Denver area restaurants: The Original Chubby’s (1231 W. 38th Ave.) and Viva Burrito (7550 Pecos St.). The cash mobs were part of the credit union’s International Credit Union Day festivities. Partner Colorado representatives bought lunches for 350 people at both locations, giving out nearly $3,500 in lunch money, along with fun giveaways.

“Cash mobs are designed to bring people together to support small businesses and fuel the economy,” said Sundie Seefried, president and CEO of Partner Colorado. “Cash mobs are a natural fit for credit unions, which were founded on the concept of people helping people. This was a fun way for Partner Colorado to give back to our community, as well as bring awareness to International Credit Union Day and the 208 million credit union members in 103 countries worldwide.”

Joleen Granados, Marketing Director for Partner Colorado, assisted with the cash mob at Chubby’s and said diners couldn’t believe Partner Colorado was giving out free lunches without a catch.

“Oh, yes, there is such a thing as a free lunch – at least up to $10 per person,” laughed Granados. “We told people that the cash mobs are a way for Partner Colorado to give back to the community and demonstrate the credit union difference. This event was a terrific way to initiate conversations about the differences between a credit union and a bank. It was a really heart-warming experience and people were so appreciative…we’ll definitely do more cash mobs in the future!”
