Pelican State Credit Union grants $6,500 in college scholarship awards

BATON ROUGE, LA (June 11, 2015) — Pelican State Credit Union granted a $500 scholarship award to thirteen college-bound Pelican members in its branch communities across the state of Louisiana.

“Pelican is committed to serving its branch communities, and our scholarship award program supports credit union members graduating high school who exhibit the same commitment,” explained Pelican CEO Jeffrey K. Conrad.

A volunteer committee made up of Pelican employees scored the scholarship applications based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, leadership, community service and letters of recommendation.

The recipients stood out among their peers as active leaders in their schools and communities. “We look forward to helping these young members reach their financial and educational goals as they enter college,” Conrad added.
