Pelican State Credit Union Makes History on PBS’ show “Opportunity Knock$”
BATON ROUGE, LA (May 4, 2023) — Pelican State Credit Union is making credit union and television history by appearing on PBS’ newest show “Opportunity Knock$,” alongside Lake Charles couple, Charles and Tiffany White.
“Opportunity Knock$” follows six families as they navigate taking control of their finances with the help of renowned financial experts and local credit unions.
At a time when more than 60% of Americans are living paycheck-to-paycheck, a lack of knowledge of financial resources and strategy continually prevents families and individuals from identifying ways to break free from financial hardship.
Thanks to our Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Certification and grant funding, Pelican was chosen to participate in a groundbreaking reality television show premiering this Sunday on Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB).
Representing Pelican on Opportunity Knock$, Credit Counselor Kimberly Gaines worked with the White family to improve their credit, create a reasonable budget, and save money by refinancing their loans with Pelican.
