Pelican State Credit Union is pleased to announce that Caddo Magnet High School’s 2022 graduate, William Samuel Davis, is a $2,000 scholarship winner of Pelican's 2022 Team Pelican Scholarship Program. Davis was the winner of the parish scholarship and the Heart of Service scholarship.
The Team Pelican Scholarship Program is an exclusive benefit to the credit union's Team Pelican youth savings account members! Finalists are selected by parish and on the basis of their academic achievements, heart for service displayed in their community, and the inspirational goals they’ve set for themselves. Pelican State CU awarded $14,000 in college scholarships in 2022 to graduating high school seniors.
The Heart of Service scholarship is awarded to students who showcase a readiness for serving others through compassionate service, volunteerism, and support of underserved populations.
While at Caddo Magnet High School, Davis was Vice President of Interact Club, a Caddo Magnet High School Ambassador, and Founder of Sam’s Super Boxes of Hope. Davis was also a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Junior Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Guitar Club, Black Studies Association, and Scholastic Choices Magazine Teen Youth Advisory Board.
They volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Overton Brooks Hospital, and LSU Health Science Center in their free time. Davis plans to attend Louisiana State University to study pre-physician assistant.
