MIDDLETOWN, RI (July 21, 2014) — People’s Credit Union recently presented member, Allison Thompson, with a $500 college scholarship from the Credit Union Association of Rhode Island.  Thompson, who was sponsored by People’s Credit Union, was selected from hundreds of applications submitted to credit unions from throughout Rhode Island.

Applicants were evaluated on a variety of criteria including the students’ academic performance, financial need, extracurricular activities, and the quality of content of an essay that addressed the applicant’s intended major field of study and career goals.

“We have gotten to know Allison through her two terms on the Youth Advisory Board; she has been an asset to the Board and a great mentor to the other Board members.  Her high level of academic achievement and commitment to the community make her well deserving of this award,” commented Ellen Ford, People’s President & CEO.
