Priority One Credit Union sponsors South Pasadena High School money class

NASHVILLE, TN (February 4, 2014) – Priority One Credit Union is sponsoring Dave Ramsey’s Foundations in Personal Finance curriculum for 30 students at South Pasadena High School. Foundations in Personal Finance has been taught to more than 1 million students across the country and is the premier curriculum for teaching financial literacy to students using interactive learning.

Robert West, Director of Employee Services for Priority One, said, “When we were granted approval in the summer of 2013 to become the only credit union in the South Pasadena community, we knew the time was right to begin exploring a sponsorship opportunity with our local high school. Because our staff members learned new things that helped them make significant changes in their personal finances as working adults through Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University class, we have always been on the lookout for some way to make this same kind of information more widely available to our membership, and especially to young people.”

Foundations in Personal Finance was developed to teach students sound financial principles so they can avoid financial difficulties as they become adults. Using the same concepts that are found in his New York Times best-selling books Financial Peace Revisited and The Total Money Makeover, Ramsey tailors the lessons to students by using fun, easy to understand methods. The class is taught on DVD by Ramsey and his daughter, Rachel Cruze.

Foundations in Personal Finance is a turnkey curriculum that meets standards and benchmarks in all fifty states and Jump$tart national standards, and has been taught in more than 10,000 schools and educational institutions.

Priority One Credit Union was started in 1926 by seventeen Los Angeles Postal Employees. Today, the credit union has five branches, more than 27,000 members, and offers a wide variety of low-cost new and used vehicle loans, personal loans, personal lines of credit and real estate loans, and provides convenient account access through Mobile Banking, 24-Hour Telephone Banking, the Shared Branching Network, and Nation-wide ATM access through CO-OP network.
