PSECU holds ribbon-cutting ceremony for on-campus location at Edinboro University
HARRISBURG, PA (October 10, 2014) — Executives from PSECU and Edinboro University, as well as members of the Edinboro campus community, joined together on October 1, 2014 to celebrate the ribbon- cutting ceremony hosted by PSECU at their new on-campus location at Edinboro University.
This location opened in June 2014, joining the other 15 that make up the credit union’s overall college presence. As PSECU is a member-centered organization, they will focus their resources at Edinboro University on outreach to students, faculty and staff, and the greater campus community. One primary focus will be providing financial education to them.
Members of the campus community will be offered the opportunity to attend free workshops and seminars to learn more about a host of financial topics. Seminars will be tailored to meet the needs of the campus and may range from subjects such as managing money while in college to securing an auto loan to understanding credit reports and scores. Workshops are offered free of charge to both PSECU members and non-members.
In addition to financial education, PSECU has committed to donate $20,000 a year to Edinboro University to provide scholarship funds for students who are in need. The funds will be divided and disbursed at the University’s discretion. Additionally, PSECU will look to serve the Edinboro University community through sponsorship of campus events and activities.
PSECU will also provide opportunities for student internships at their Edinboro location. Internships are paid and offer students an opportunity to gain real-world work experience. Interns will learn how this large, not-for-profit, member-owned organization operates and serves its members and communities. Interns will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the location, such as marketing, outreach efforts, and event sponsorship, while providing member service.
All members of the campus community are invited to stop in to PSECU’s on-campus location on the first floor of the Pogue Student Center on Edinboro’s campus to learn more.
