PSECU’s Cathy Tama-Troutman recognized as a 2020 Woman of Excellence

HARRISBURG, PA (February 14, 2020) — Pennsylvania’s anytime, anywhere digital credit union, PSECU, is proud to announce that its Vice President of Human Resources, Cathy Tama-Troutman, has been chosen as one of the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg’s 2020 Women of Excellence. Tama-Troutman will be among 25 women honored at the organization’s 31st annual Tribute to Women of Excellence (TWE) award ceremony on March 26.

“Cathy freely shares her time and knowledge with others who seek her out. The guidance she has provided throughout her career and in her personal endeavors have made a positive impact on the lives of countless people,” explained PSECU President and CEO George Rudolph, who nominated Tama-Troutman for the award. “She is a Woman of Excellence who leads others by example.”

According to the TWE event website, over the past 30 years, the YWCA has honored more than 700 extraordinary women for their professional and philanthropical contributions to the Central Pennsylvania region with the Women of Excellence Awards. Those recipients – including several PSECU employees throughout the years – participate actively in the community as a mentor, volunteer, or role model; demonstrate integrity, strength of character, and leadership; and embrace the vision and mission of the YWCA.

“It’s a great honor to be named a Woman of Excellence,” Tama-Troutman said. “I’d like to thank the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg for including me as part of such an admirable group of women who are working to make our community a better place for everyone to enjoy.”

Tama-Troutman has led Harrisburg-based PSECU’s Human Resources area since 1987. During that time, she has contributed significantly to the organization’s growth and stability by overseeing the hire, training, and support of a qualified and dedicated workforce focused on providing members with high-quality financial products and services delivered with award-winning member service. As part of her role, Tama-Troutman also serves as a strategic partner in staff planning, compensation planning, performance management, employee training and development, internal communications, and succession management, among other day-to-day responsibilities. She is also a mentor to PSECU’s 22-person Human Resources staff.

Throughout her career, Tama-Troutman has been heavily involved in community service efforts. From a professional perspective, Tama-Troutman has been active with the HR Professionals of Central PA for more than 20 years, including current membership and time served on the organization’s board of directors. She is also currently a member of both the Cumberland Area Economic Development Corporation’s and the United Way of Central Pennsylvania’s HR Advisory Committees.

Additionally, Tama-Troutman provided multi-year volunteer commitments to youth-focused community programming, including Hampden Township and the Cumberland Valley School District Soccer Booster Club, and her church’s education ministry. Her involvement with some of these programs included service as Treasurer and Secretary. She is the current Vice President of the Susquehanna Rowing Association.

Tama-Troutman holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics with a concentration in Personnel and Labor Relations from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She also has earned designations as Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) and as a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

PSECU Vice President Cathy Tama-Troutman named part of YWCA of Greater Harrisburg’s Tribute to Women of Excellence Class of 2020.
