El Paso, TX (June 18, 2026) |
Raiz Federal Credit Union was recognized for nearly a century of service to the El Paso region with a Congressional Record tribute presented by Congresswoman Veronica Escobar during a special ceremony held Wednesday, June 17, at the Raiz Mortgage and Business Services Center in El Paso.
The framed Congressional Record, which includes remarks entered into the official record of the United States Congress, honors Raiz’s longstanding commitment to improving the financial well-being of local families and businesses. It recognizes the credit union’s lasting impact on generations of members throughout the region.
“I was proud to recognize Raiz Federal Credit Union in the Congressional Record as they celebrate 90 years of service to El Paso,” said Congresswoman Escobar. "For nearly a century, Raiz has helped families build financial security, supported educators and students, and invested in the success of our community. Their commitment to expanding opportunity and empowering El Pasoans has made a lasting impact across our region. I congratulate the entire Raiz team on this remarkable milestone and look forward to their continued service for generations to come.”
For Raiz President and CEO Max Villaronga, the recognition is both a celebration of the credit union’s legacy and a reminder of its responsibility to continue serving the community for generations to come.
“This recognition belongs to every member, employee, volunteer, and board member who has helped shape the Raiz story over the past nine decades,” said Villaronga. “We are deeply honored to receive this Congressional recognition and grateful for the trust our community has placed in us since 1936. As we celebrate our history, we remain focused on the future and on continuing to empower the people and communities we proudly serve.”
Founded in 1936 by seven educators, Raiz Federal Credit Union has remained rooted in the El Paso area, growing from humble beginnings into a trusted financial partner for individuals, families, and businesses across the region. While much has changed over the decades, Raiz’s dedication to empowering members and supporting local prosperity endures.
That dedication continues to take shape in new ways. Most recently, Raiz launched the Raiz Public School District Relief Plan, providing timely support to educators and district employees while reinforcing the credit union’s broader mission of responding to the evolving needs of the communities it serves. This is just one example of how Raiz invests in the people who make our region stronger.
The Congressional Record recognition is just one milestone in Raiz’s year-long anniversary celebration. Throughout the year, Raiz will continue to highlight members, employees, and community partner stories and will launch and sponsor initiatives that reflect the values on which it was founded. Though much has changed since seven educators first came together to establish Raiz, the credit union remains guided by its people-first mission.
