El Paso, TX (August 7, 2025) |
As schools face tighter budgets and reduced resources, Raiz Federal Credit Union is stepping up to support local educators with its ‘Raiz Up’ Professional Development Grant, now accepting applications until September 1. The grant opens new opportunities for Region 19 educators to attend a professional development event or training of their choice to improve their skills and motivate students throughout the Borderland.
Since 2022, Raiz has awarded more than $219,000 in scholarships and grants to local educators, helping to bridge financial gaps and ensure that teachers also have access to the educational resources they need to continue impacting their students' lives. Aware that teachers often spend their personal income on supplies and training, Raiz strives to ease this financial burden for teachers by offering helpful resources that enable educators to focus on teaching and inspiring students.
“When we invest in educators, we invest in every family they serve and the future of El Paso,” said Raiz President and CEO Max Villaronga. “The 'Raiz Up' Grant is our way of celebrating the passion teachers bring to their work and giving them room to reach even higher.”
This year, 12 educators will receive grants of up to $3,500 each. Grant funds can be used for professional conferences, specialized certifications, workshops, or other growth opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach. Rooted deeply in education, Raiz understands firsthand the dedication, passion, and challenges that teachers face every day.
“I attended the TCEA (Texas Computer Education Association) conference, where I learned about many platforms we can use for collaborative work with our students and also tools for us as educators to facilitate our profession,” said Valle Verde Early College High School teacher and 2024 ‘Raiz Up’ grant recipient Julietta Rojas. “This is a great opportunity for teachers who have a desire to grow professionally. Thank you, Raiz, for the support to educators in El Paso.”
As educational resources become more limited, Raiz remains committed to offering dependable, meaningful support for local teachers. Through this grant, educators stay inspired, connected, and prepared to lead innovative learning experiences.
