Redwood Credit Union Gives 112% to Support Local Non-Profits

RCU Contributes Over $95,000 in United Way Workplace Campaign

Santa Rosa, CA
– Redwood Credit Union (RCU) recently completed their 2012 United Way workplace giving campaign with total contributions of more than $95,000 – achieving 112% of their $85,000 fundraising goal to support local non-profits. The Credit Union offered several unique incentives to encourage employees to contribute: prize raffles, casual days, ice cream parties and other festivities.

“I am in awe of the generosity of our employees and Officials during RCU’s annual United Way fundraising campaign -- each year, we step it up,” said RCU President & CEO Brett Martinez. “Exceeding our campaign goal year after year exemplifies the dedication our staff and Officials to our communities, and it is truly moving to see our employees actively engaged in supporting our local nonprofits, particularly during these economically challenging times when need is greatest.”

In addition to supporting with monetary contributions, RCU employees recently volunteered in 4 counties for the United Way’s Day/Week of Caring. In Sonoma County, volunteers helped to clean up barns at Bayer Farm; in Marin County, they assisted with a variety of projects at the Marin Food Bank; in Mendocino County, they built new picnic tables for the Ukiah Boys ; and in Napa, RCU piloted the first-ever Day of Caring effort in Napa County by repainting the Napa Boys .

Redwood Credit Union employees and volunteer Officials participate in the United Way campaign annually to contribute funds for local non-profits across two United Way chapters: United Way of the Wine Country and United Way of the Bay Area. Because the Credit Union serves Members in multiple North Bay counties and San Francisco, the contributions benefit people in all the communities RCU serves, including Sonoma, Mendocino, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, Lake and Solano Counties. In addition to United Way, RCU supports a wide variety of local non-profits and community efforts throughout the year.

Founded in 1950, RCU is a full-service financial cooperative, offering competitive financial products and services to fulfill consumer and small business financial needs, including checking and savings accounts, auto and mortgage loans, credit cards, investments, business services, insurance and more. Anyone living or working in the North Bay or San Francisco can benefit from becoming a Member of Redwood Credit Union, which currently serves 220,000 Members and has over $2 billion in assets.
