Redwood Credit Union re-elects Board of Directors and supervisory committee members

RCU Volunteer Officials Named for Three-Year Terms; Officers Announced

SANTA ROSA, CA (May 1, 2014) — Redwood Credit Union (RCU) recently re-elected five volunteer Officials for three-year terms from 2014 to 2017. Incumbents Robert Steele, Debra Watts and Robert Wieck were re-elected to the Credit Union’s Board of Directors, and incumbents David Gouin and Brian Elliott were re-elected to RCU’s Supervisory Committee.

RCU’s Board of Directors sets the Credit Union’s strategic direction and policies, and the Supervisory Committee oversees the audit function for the Credit Union. Because credit unions are not-for-profit cooperatives, RCU’s Board and Supervisory Committee members serve voluntarily and are elected by the membership.

Robert Steele has been a volunteer RCU Board member since 1999, and is a Commercial Insurance Product Director for Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, located in Novato, CA, where he has worked for over thirty-seven years.

Debra Watts has been a volunteer for Redwood Credit Union since 1976 and has held a variety of positions on the Board. She is retired after more than thirty-seven years of service from the County of Sonoma, serving as the Manager of the Customer Services Division of the Permit and Resource Management Department. Ms. Watts also serves on the Board of Directors for RCU Services Group (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Redwood Credit Union) and on the Sonoma County Landmarks Commission.

Robert Wieck has been a volunteer Board member for Redwood Credit Union since 1976, and has served on the Board of Directors since 1979. Mr. Wieck is retired after thirty years of service to the County of Sonoma, where he served as Administration Division Director for the Department of Health Services.

David Gouin has over twenty-nine years of public service experience with the County of Sonoma, City of Vacaville and City of Santa Rosa, and currently serves as Director of Economic Development and Housing for the City of Santa Rosa. Mr. Gouin has been involved in several local organizations such as Petaluma Ecumenical Properties, the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce, and Leadership Santa Rosa.

Brian Elliott has over 40 years of local fire service experience. He worked for the Santa Rosa Fire Department for 33 years and completed his career as the fire chief in Cloverdale retiring in 2011.  Mr. Elliott has been involved with many community projects, including as a Board member for the Cloverdale Performing Arts Center and as the Public Alternate to Sonoma County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO). Currently Mr. Elliott operates a fire services consultation business and works as a musician and sound reinforcement engineer.

The Credit Union’s Officials have also selected their officers for the year as follows: Rod Dole as Board Chair, Greg McGuirk as Board Vice Chair, Robert Eyler as Board Secretary, Bob Steele as Board Treasurer, Brian Elliott as Supervisory Committee Chair, David Gouin as Supervisory Committee Vice Chair, and M. Christina Rivera as Supervisory Committee Secretary.
