Redwood Credit Union senior vice president receives Women in Business award

Mishel Kaufman honored for contributions to community and advocacy efforts

SANTA ROSA, CA (July 9, 2018) — Redwood Credit Union (RCU) is pleased to announce Mishel Kaufman, senior vice president of risk management, was recognized with a North Bay Business Journal Women in Business award at a recent celebration event in Santa Rosa, Calif. The award honors local professional women who have made significant contributions to the North Bay business community.

Kaufman has 25 years’ experience in internal auditing, including over 10 years with RCU, where she oversees internal audit, quality assurance, compliance, vendor management, business continuity planning, and security functions.

“Mishel is an integral part of our Senior Leadership team, and a significant contributor to the well-being of our organization and our local community,” said Brett Martinez, RCU’s president and CEO. “We’re proud to see her honored with the Women in Business award.”

Kaufman worked on a special task force led by the California Credit Union League to modernize regulations related to unclaimed property law. She also serves on the board of the Sonoma County YWCA, and supports the Human Race put on by the Volunteer Center of Sonoma County by serving as RCU’s fundraising team captain.

She graduated from UC Riverside with a bachelor’s degree in political science and administrative studies, received her M.B.A. from Claremont Graduate University, her Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) through the Institute of Internal Auditors, and her Credit Union Enterprise Risk Management Expert (CUERME) accreditation through the Credit Union National Association (CUNA).
