San Diego County Credit Union CEO reelected chair of the nation’s largest statewide credit union trade group

SAN DIEGO, Calif., (Nov. 30. 2012) — Teresa Halleck, President & CEO of San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, has been reelected as chairman of the board of the California Credit Union League (CCUL), one of the nation’s largest statewide credit union trade associations. After serving in 2012 as CCUL chair, Halleck will serve for a second consecutive term in 2013, according to Diana Dykstra, CCUL president and CEO. CCUL represents 323 credit unions in California and Nevada with more than 8.9 million members and more than $123 billion in assets.

“It will be an honor to serve again as board chair in 2013,” Halleck said. “I believe strongly in the credit union philosophy of `people helping people’ and advancing the well-being of our customers. In addition, my continued goal will be to support the league and to ensure the sustained health of our member credit unions through advocacy, information, education, leadership and business solutions.”

Also elected to the Executive Committee of the Board was Teresa Freeborn, president and CEO of Xceed Financial Federal Credit Union in El Segundo, as vice chairman and Jon Hernandez, president and CEO of CalCom FCU in Torrance, City of Downey FCU in Downey, and Mattel FCU in El Segundo, as an at-large director.

Halleck, with more than 20 years of financial industry experience, joined SDCCU as president and CEO in August 2010. Prior to SDCCU, she served as president and CEO of Sacramento-based The Golden 1 Credit Union for nearly eight years. Under Halleck’s leadership, SDCCU® has continued to remain the top financial performer in San Diego. SDCCU’s membership growth is roughly three times the industry average in 2012.   In addition to CCUL, Halleck’s involvement in the industry includes as a member of the Department of Financial Institutions’ Credit Union Advisory Committee. She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Maryland at College Park and an MAS in financial management from The Johns Hopkins University.
